TECHNICAL ADVISOR

Technical advisor support for Aboriginal parties (including Traditional Owner groups, Elders, Aboriginal corporations, or PBC/ RNTBCs)

4 Corners Heritage provides independent technical advisor support to Aboriginal parties in Queensland across heritage engagement, document review, and on-ground archaeological services. The goal is simple: experienced archaeologists, clear information, defensible advice, and stronger decision-making at every stage of the project.

What we do

  • Review heritage-related information: identify gaps, assumptions, and the questions that need answers before decisions are made.

  • Translate project scope into plain language: plans, maps, methodologies, timelines, and on-ground impacts.

  • Technical Archaeological Support: cultural heritage surveys, excavations, and/or monitoring as required by the project. Our GIS capacity assists with data collection in the field and assisting with back-end data management.

  • Conducting Cultural Heritage Assessments: assessing the cultural significance of sites, objects, or landscapes from a scientific, archaeological perspective. This involves identifying, documenting and mapping areas of cultural importance, evaluating potential impacts of development or other activities, and recommending appropriate managementstrategies.

  • Cultural Heritage Management Plans: assist with the development and implementation of cultural heritage management plans that outline how to protect and conserve Aboriginal heritage sites. These plans often include strategies for avoiding or mitigating impacts, as well as ongoing maintenance and protection of the sites.

  • Negotiationand consultation support: provide technical inputs and documentation to support engagement with clearer evidence and stronger questions.

  • Training and capability upskilling (optional): artefact identification, field data collection, and data management

  • Research and Grant Writing. support funding submissions and evidence-based project documentation.
